Unselfish sewing: Halloween edition

My son has put in his request for this year's Halloween costume by submitting to me the following sketch.  Care to hazard a guess as to what he wants me to sew?

  2. Firestorm the superhero on top of a triceratops. It's definitely a magical triceratops.

  3. Is that Naruto in his orange jumpsuit? Or maybe it's Naruto transforming into the 9 tailed fox demon. Good luck :)

    1. Embarassed to admit that I had to google what a Naruto is. I guess my manga days are all ahead of me, since my kids are still not reading on their own.

    2. Oh, you have so much to look forward to! ;) But I'll claim the embarrassment since I'm not cool enough to read the manga, and I'm 28 and watch subtitled anime.
My second guess is a dragon then. Fire breathing of course.

  4. I'm intrigued! It looks fantastic! (I'm dying to know what it is!)
Um, I have no idea what Naruto is either. I'll have to look it up. My 8 yr old is in his own universe, but it's all based on reality TV shows!! Highway through Hell, World's Toughest Trucker, etc!

  5. Here's the answer: It's a mummy, complete with trailing bandages. He got in a bit of a crisis because he couldn't draw white bandages on white paper, but I convinced him to just use orange. The coloured thing above the mummy's head is a magical jewel that I must somehow suspend over the head of the mummy (?). I think he got the idea from the Redpath Museum at McGill, where we saw a real live - oops, I mean real dead - mummy with amulets and jewels wrapped in the bandages.

    He's nothing if not imaginative.

    1. Could you build a wire apparatus like you'd do if making an angel halo? The bonus part is that you'd be able to hide most of it under wrappings!

  6. Oh WOW, what an interesting child! This will get even better as he grows up; my own little genius once - then in his twenties - went to a fancy dress party dressed as a giant prawn, complete with all those extra legs which he had attached to his wrists with invisible strings so that when he lifted his hands, all the legs rose up as well. Someone seeing the costume in the back seat of his car several days later was totally freaked...
